Beautycounter Giveaway!

10.26.2016 By: Eliza, MiniBury Founder

click-to-win

If you’ve been following along here for a while, you’ve learned we’re pretty obsessed with healthy living because we believe the health of ourselves and our family is our greatest asset. We talk about nurturing a love of being active and cultivating adventurous eaters who know where food comes from and what it’s made of. In short, we talk about what we put in our bodies and how we move our bodies. We don’t spend a lot of time here talking about what we put ON our bodies however, because that may or may not be of interest to you. So, we’re wondering, would you consider learning more? If so, click though … you’ll also find out how to win a FREE Beautycounter mascara.

Since the average American uses between 10-12 personal care products a day, we think it’s time to start talking about what we put ON our bodies here at MiniBury. We also recently learned two startling facts that we want to share with you…..

The federal government has not passed a law to regulate the personal care industry since 1938.

While the E.U. has banned or regulated more than 1,300 ingredients in personal care products, the U.S. has only banned 11.

My family suffers from sensitive and easily irritated skin and 3 out of 5 of us also have eczema. Finding skin and hair products that do not bother us can be challenging. Likewise, finding household products like bathroom cleaners and laundry detergents that don’t cause reactions took a lot of trial and error. A few years back we become aware of Beautycounter products and immediately liked their mission: “Get safe products into the hands of everyone.” We also love that the company has a “Never List” of ingredients that they will never use in their products, common ingredients that have been proven to cause harm. After reading this article on Goop that included an interview with the CEO of Beautycounter and we tried their products. Turns out, the product rock. So we started reading more, watching videos and checking labels. When we learned (much to our horror) that terms like green, all natural, pure, clean, family friendly, baby safe are unregulated in the personal care product industry and carry no true value or meaning, we switched from blissfully intrigued to down right motivated to share this information with anyone that will listen!

We’re arming ourselves with information about the personal care industry and riding our home of products with ingredients linked to cancer, reproductive issues and hormone disruption. We’re feeling empowered and stoked to help you feel empowered to make safe choices too.

Eliza, MiniBury Founder

Hello, I’m Eliza. I founded MiniBury in 2012 because I had a hunch that I wasn't the only parent in Addison County missing fun family friendly events. I love the challenge of finding and sharing information about our community to other parents.
