Imagine this: you look fabulous, relaxed after a day at the spa, a Mint Julep in one hand and a tasty hors d’oeuvre in the other; you’re surrounded by friends, taking in stunning Adirondack views under a tent watching the Kentucky Derby. Your children are home with the babysitter, eating a dinner you didn’t make and having a grand time….. This can your reality come Saturday, read on for more details.
If your upcoming travel plans do not include a visit to the infield at Churchill Downs in Louisville for the 141ˢᵗ running of the Kentucky Derby, then plan to come to Cornwall on Saturday afternoon, May 2ⁿd, for the annual “Kentucky Derby Day Party” sponsored by the Porter Medical Center Auxiliary.
Mint Juleps, Dakin Farm spiral ham, and other treats in keeping with the Derby theme will be featured at this outdoor event in Cornwall under a tent affording beautiful views to the Adirondacks. As always, guests will be able to wager on their favorite horse—and then cheer on the winner during a live broadcast of the “Run for the Roses” at approximately 6:30 p.m. The evening will also feature a raffle with prizes ranging from gift certificates to local merchants and restaurants to one of a kind items like a signed copy of a local cookbook, a family season ski pass to Rikert Nordic Center. Proceeds from this event will be donated by the PMC Auxiliary to renovate the front entrance to Porter Hospital. Tickets are $50 per person for non-members ($45 for members) and may be purchased by calling the Laurie Borden at Porter Hospital Public Relations Department at 802-388-4738 or online on Porter’s web site here.
Before you head out to Cornwall, swing through Brandon and stop at the newest and most fabulous salon around, Briggs Carriage Co Hair Lounge and Spa. On Saturday, May 2nd from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm they are hosting an amazing fundraiser to help benefit St. Mary’s School. This is a donation only event. Briggs Carriage Company will be offering the following services on a first come, first serve basis:
– Haircuts
– Tata Harper Mini Facials
– Polish Changes (Hands Only)
– Chair Massages
Each service is a separate donation, with donation boxes at every station. Briggs Carriage Company asks that there be a $10.00 minimum for each donation. All proceeds go to St. Mary’s School. They will also be raffling a Moroccan Oil Gift Set to one lucky winner!
