Our extraordinary local library Sarah Lawton has been awfully busy lately; she’s added more great classes and workshops to the robust Ilsley Public Library schedule! Come February, the library will be hosting two new activities for school aged children. The first, Lights, Camera, Action!, is a four-day youth filmmaking class during February vacation. Students will produce short movies using the library’s state of the art equipment. The second class, Storybook Theater, is a five-week hands-on theater workshop for kids in grades k-2, culminating in a public performance at Town Hall Theater. Students will work with local actress and teacher Nikki Juvan on a picture book adaptation. Space will be limited for both programs, so be sure to register early for these free programs! Please call (388-4097) or email Sarah Lawton to sign up.
Ilsley is also hosting a MoneySmart Workshop February 7 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. that will help educate parents and caregivers on five core areas of financial education. According to Sarah Lawton,
“parents often ask us about the best ways to introduce kids to money. It can be difficult for parents to figure out the best time to open a bank account, how to structure an allowance, or how to teach their kids about responsible spending. This workshop is a wonderful opportunity to gather and discuss these issues.”
Don’t miss this great opportunity, plus you might just win a gift certificate to a restaurant of your choice!
