Let’s Go Birding in Middlebury. Saturday, June 13, 9 a.m. Wright Park, Middlebury. They’re everywhere, but so often overlooked. They come in all colors, shapes, and sizes. Some travel thousands of miles to arrive in our backyards, and others are constant companions, even through the cold winter months. Join MALT and Otter Creek Audubon Society for this intro to birding. Take a roughly 1.5 hour walk through Wright Park’s many trails. We’ll break into small groups and work our way down to Otter Creek, discovering the myriad feathered creatures along the way. Appropriate for families and people of all ages – due to the rough terrain, strollers are not recommended. Light refreshments provided by MALT and OCAS. Friends of the Bixby Library Book Sale in Vergennes. Saturday, June 13, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Bixby Library basement Otter Creek Room (accessible from the library’s back parking lot). Browse gently used fiction, non-fiction, children’s, YA, gardening, sci-fi/fantasy, Vermont books and more. All funds from the book sale will support the free services and programs offered by the Bixby Library.
Craft Stash Sale in Monkton. Saturday, June 13, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Monkton Friends Methodist Church, 78 Monkton Ridge. Replenish your craft supplies. Tag Sale in Bristol. Saturday, June 13, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Bristol Baptist Church, 10 Park St. Treasures galore. All proceeds go to Young Life Addison County to help local teens go to summer camp. If you have questions, call 802-453-4573.
Addison County Bike Club Family Ride: Moosalamoo Campground in Salisbury. Saturday, June 13, 10 a.m., Meet at Moosalamoo Campground parking lot. Looking for good beginner trails for young riders to learn on? These rides are family-friendly and considerate of kids’ skills and endurance levels. Fun for kindergarten-age and older. The ride will go along the campground trail, great for beginners. Cold treats will be available at the end of the ride. Look out for July and August family ride info soon. Tie-Dye Day in Cornwall. Saturday, June 13,10 a.m., Cornwall Town Hall; 2629 Route 30, Cornwall. Cornwall Recreation Committee will supply dyes, rubber bands and buckets. Bring your shirts, fabric or any material suitable for dyeing. You will be dyeing with laughter and leaving feeling totally groovy. Free.
Cat Cafe at Bixby in Vergennes. Saturday, June 13, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Bixby Library. Join us for a Cat Cafe with Homeward Bound, Addison County’s Humane Society. Meet and play with sweet, adoptable cats while enjoying light refreshments. This event has limited capacity — email [email protected] to reserve a 20-minute spot.
Kids Cafe at the Middlebury Marquis: Toy Story. 12:30 p.m. 65 Main St., Middlebury. A weekly free kids movie in the cafe space.
Sunday, June 14
Fire Department Annual Chicken Barbecue in Cornwall. Sunday, June 14, noon, Route 30 Station, 1952 Route 30. Half-chicken meals with salad and sides, kids can enjoy free hot dogs while they last. Table seating and take out available. Slow-cooked with CVFD’s secret sauce. This community event is a great opportunity to see neighbors and old friends, see the fire trucks, learn about serving on the fire department and meet the volunteers. Proceeds benefit the work of the department. $15.
Sunday Sessions: Bob Recupero in Middlebury. Sunday, June 14, 4-7 p.m., The Ralph Myhre Golf Course, 317 Golf Course Road (Patio at the Tavern on the Tee). Bob Recupero is known for his soulful voice and masterful guitar playing. His performances, encompassing genres such as Americana, folk and country-blues, offer a heartfelt experience that connects deeply with his audience. Free.
Tuesday, June 16
The Little Wildlings take on The Artful Trail. Tuesday, June 16, at 4:30 p.m. This is a loop trail that follows a mowed path past over 50 different sculptures created by various artists. The area is a vast field with a small island of woods (where we’ve heard trail fairies live). The sculptures are a treat to look at, but the website asks everyone to refrain from climbing to avoid damaging the art. The full loop is 1 mile with only slight and short inclines. If the weather is nice, there may be an opportunity to have dinner among the creatures and shapes!
Wednesday, June 17
Strawberry Festival and Concert in Shoreham. Wednesday, June 17, 6 – 8 p.m., at the Town Green’s gazebo. Bring your lawn chairs or picnic blankets for seating on the lawn, enjoy your strawberry shortcake and listen to the music provided by Nick Thornblade and his accordion. Since the Church will close in December, this is the last Strawberry Fest that the Church will sponsor. Strawberry shortcake: $4 – $7.
Summer Live Music: Albany Sound in Bristol. Wednesday, June 17, 6-8 p.m., Tillerman, 1868 Rt 116 Road. Enjoy live music and tacos, creative cocktails and mocktails, snacks, and paletas. You are welcome to bring your own blankets and chairs for the lawn. we also set up some tables and chairs. Learn more here.
Bristol Town Band Summer Concerts on the Park in Bristol. Wednesday, June 17, 7 p.m., Town Green. The Bristol Town Band is back for its 156th year of weekly evening concerts. Each Wednesday through Aug. 26 the Town Green will be filled with music and events. Bring a picnic and chair to enjoy the music with family and friends.
Thursday, June 18
Heck Yeah Party for Pride Month in Lincoln. Thursday, June 18, 4-6 p.m., Lincoln Library, 222 W River Rd. Heck Yeah is a community art-making event. Every day, LGBTQIA+ youth face a barrage of untrue, harmful messages. Community members gather at these events to create messages of affirmation (“heck yeahs”) in the form of letters and artwork, which will then be sent to Vermont’s queer, trans and non-binary youth across the state. This is a family-friendly event and open to all ages. Ice cream, lawn games, and art supplies will be provided — just bring your positive energy.

Let’s Go Birding with MALT and Otter Creek Audubon in Middlebury. Saturday, June 20, 9-11 a.m., Wright Park, Seymour Street Extension. Join MALT and Otter Creek Audubon to identify birds by sight and song on a guided morning bird walk. Suitable for beginners and experienced birders alike. Family-friendly event with light snacks and a hands-on activities table.

Teddy Bear Picnic in Bristol. Thursday, June 25, 12-1 p.m., Town Green. Please bring your favorite bear and join us on the Town Green for stories, songs and fun. Teddy Bear stories will be read by Ted’s best friend, Ali. Twenty lunches will be provided for children. Rain location is at Howden Hall. Free to the public.

New Haven Neighbors Music & Family Event in New Haven. Saturday, June 27, New Haven Town Green. A family-friendly music and community event will take place during the Fireman’s BBQ dinner, featuring entertainment and activities for all ages. Save the date; more details to be announced.

Birds Are Dinosaurs: VINS Live Animal Presentation in New Haven. Monday, June 29, 5 p.m., New Haven Town Hall, 78 North St. What did 65 million years of evolution turn the dinosaurs into? Birds! Celebrating “Unearth a Story” at your local library, this live presentation introduces audiences to birds of prey and explores their dinosaur ancestry. Learn how modern birds became masters of the air and discover the immense timescale over which these dinosaur descendants adapted. The 45-minute program features three live animals — one turtle and two birds — and is designed for families and children of all ages.

A peer support group for those navigating reproductive grief and loss in any form-including miscarriage, stillbirth, abortion, infertility, and complex reproductive or postpartum experiences. Free. The Blooming Circle Postpartum Mom Support Group. 1st & 3rd Fridays of the month. 11 a.m. Nest and Gather, 55 Deer View Lane, New Haven. Run by local mom, Kelly Bessette, The Blooming Circle is a postpartum support group that serves mothers who live within Addison County, Vermont. This group is committed to supporting emotional well-being, self-care, and mental health, helping every mom embrace her new journey with confidence and strength. Free. RSVPs appreciated.
