Children’s Art Classes

Animal Collage Arts & Crafts Instructor: Renee Ursitti

Using recycled paper, art paper, tissue paper and other materials we will create a variety of collage projects. We will take a look at the work of collage artists like Steve Jenkins and Melissa Sweet to create 2D & 3D art, such as an aquarium, totem poles and zoo animals. Get messy and have fun! For ages 6 and up.

Friday Home School Drawing & Painting   Instructor: Mary Lower

This class will be a chance to draw and paint from observation and your imagination while learning about the elements of art and composition. Classes will be held at Middlebury Studio School, 1 Mill St. lower level. Tuition $19/per session, materials included. Hours: 1-2:30PM

Glow in the Dark Art Instructor: Christine Mix

Children paint their own Glow in the Dark Art on their favorite old white t-shirt, white sheet or cloths. They can make banners for their room or scary Halloween decorations for their house or a Halloween party. Turn an extra-large t-shirt or sheet into a costume, or make ghosts, ghouls, fairies, pirates, skeletons, zombies or whatever the child can imagine! Students should bring a large white t-shirt and/or old white sheet if they have it. Wear old paint clothes. For ages 7 and up.

Drawing Magical Creatures Instructor: Christine Mix

Using their imaginations, kids will explore the magical world of sea monsters, featuring Vermont’s own Champ, along with dragons, unicorns, fairies, myths and legends. They will be exposed to drawings from master painters and illustrators, from the medieval ages to the present and encouraged to make their own drawings and paintings from imagination. Drawing pencils, colored markers, watercolors and papers will be explored as well. Children are welcome to bring their own favorite sketch books, pens and pencils. For ages 7 and up.

Draw, Paint & Build in Leonardo’s Workshop Instructor: Mary Lower

From the secret smile of Mona Lisa to flying machines, have fun being an artist inventor with a little inspiration from Leonardo da Vinci. Projects include painting on wood panels, making large murals, exploring science and inventions with drawing and building models. This studio class is for ages 6 to 12. Weds. after school classes will be held at 1 Mill St. lower level from 3:30-5PM

Make Your Own Holiday Gifts Instructor: Renee Ursitti

This 6 week class will focus on a variety of handmade gifts. Projects will include a picture frame, different types of ornaments, king & queen winter dolls, snowmen and a birdseed wreath. Have fun while you make gifts for your family. For ages 6 and up.
