Parenting can be a juggling act. Figuring out what to do with the kids doesn’t have to be. MiniBury is an online resource for Addison County parents, featuring an events calendar chock full with playgroups, storytimes, family activities and special events; a summer camp guide; an ever-evolving list of afterschool programs and other invaluable local knowledge.
This site was started in 2012 by a local mom, Eliza Eaton, who realized that while Addison County offered countless opportunities for family fun, all of that information was scattered around on different websites and bulletin boards. She spent several years creating a reliable, one-stop shop for all things kid-related in the Middlebury area.
After Eliza passed the torch a couple years ago, I was one of three local parents of very young children who volunteered to take over the site. We were all juggling. Jason Sherry, Conor Stinson and Linda January — who buoyed MiniBury with their expertise and enthusiasm — eventually decided to focus their time on their jobs and kids.
I wanted to be able to devote the kind of time and energy to MiniBury that it deserves. And I wanted to ensure that MiniBury remains an integral part of our community even after my kids, now 5 and 2, are grown. So I began working with two other moms at my day job — Christy Lynn and Elsie Parini — on a plan to adopt MiniBury as part of the Addison Independent.
And here we are.
You will still find everything you have always found at minibury.com. But you will now also see some of our MiniBury content once a month in the Arts+Leisure section of the Addison Independent (our debut page is pictured above). And you will see some great kid-related Addy Indy stories on MiniBury.
I am so excited for this next big milestone for MiniBury!
