book your baby sitter – another date night is coming up

03.30.2014 By: Eliza, MiniBury Founder

C2 poster 2014 final (2)Come support the United Way of Addison County at its “For Community by Community” event at the Two Brothers Tavern in Middlebury Thursday, April 3ʳᵈ. Enjoy an evening of delicious local foods, a maple bar and the music of Snake Mountain Bluegrass while supporting our community!

Wondering why we’re mentioning all this? First of all it will be a great date night. Second, the United Way of Addison County financially supports the following programs for local children and families and this event will benefit all of these programs (and more):

  • MiddSummer Lunch & Recreation Program
  • Lund Family Center
  • Addison Central Teens & Friends
  • Addison County Parent Child Center
  • Boys & Girls Club of Greater Vergennes
  • Bristol Family Center
  • Foxcroft Farm Harvest Program
  • Mary Johnson Children’s Center
  • Otter Creek Child Center
  • Starksboro Cooperative Preschool
  • The DREAM Program
  • The HUB Teen Center & Skatepark
  • Addison County Court Diversion
  • Addison County Readers
  • Everybody Wins

Still not convinced? Here’s the press release:

Two Brothers Tavern and the United Way of Addison County have partnered to offer ‘Community Squared’ a fundraising event that will benefit all of the non-profit organizations funded by the United Way.  Bringing together local food, musicians and community members, the goal of the event is to raise $5,000 to support the UWAC general fund and its twenty-nine critical health, education and human service organizations.  Funds will be raised through sponsorship, admission and 50/50 raffle tickets sales.

As the United Way of Addison County nears the end of it’s 2013-2014 campaign, the goal is still within reach. Campaign funds provide community members with access to much needed food, shelter, health care, safe havens, quality educational opportunities and so much more.  “Community Squared is about raising the power of the community for change,” says Nancy Luke, Development and Marketing Manager of the United Way. “Attending Community Squared is a great opportunity to make an impact — for community, by community and help us to reach our goal.”

Community Squared is generously sponsored by Farrell Distributing (featuring Drop In Brewing Beer), Reinhart Foods, Backspin Renewables, Newton Electrical & Refrigeration, Shelburne Vineyard, Bristol Beverage & Redemption, Olivia’s Croutons and the Addison Independent.

For more information or to purchase event and raffle tickets on-line visit visit their website, the United Way office at 48 Court St. in Middlebury, VT, or call (802) 388-7189. Event tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Raffle tickets are $5 each or 6/$25, 12/$50 – enter for the chance to win up to $2500!

Donors need not be in attendance to win the Raffle, but they will have more fun if they are!

Eliza, MiniBury Founder

Hello, I’m Eliza. I founded MiniBury in 2012 because I had a hunch that I wasn't the only parent in Addison County missing fun family friendly events. I love the challenge of finding and sharing information about our community to other parents.

sounds like great fun, but on a school night to find a sitter hmmmm

We thought that same thing too, until our high school aged sitter revealed that she was more productive at our house after the kids went to sleep than at home! So, always worth a try.
