  • Postpartum Care Swap in Bristol. Saturday, Jan. 31, 11 a.m., Bristol Federated Church, 37 North St. Community swap hosted by The Blooming Circle, a postpartum mom support group in Addison County. Families are invited to donate, swap or take postpartum and baby items, including recovery essentials, breastfeeding and pumping supplies, maternity and postpartum clothing and bottles.   • Patch cuts for wildlife and forest resiliency in Leicester. Saturday, Jan. 31, noon, Foxglove Farm, 777 Delorm Rd. Join Addison County Forester and VT Coverts Cooperator Mark Raishart for a guided walk through his family’s working forest and bird-friendly sugarbush to explore patch cuts used to create wildlife habitat, diversify forests and enhance resiliency. Walk covers about a half mile on uneven and wet terrain and ends at the sugarhouse with warm drinks and snacks. Families welcome. To register, email [email protected].


    SUNDAY, FEB. 1

    Community skating benefit for the Perrine family in Middlebury. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2-5 p.m., Memorial Sports Center, Buttolph Drive. Community ice skating event in support of Pieter Perrine and family. Ice skating will be followed by an ice cream sundae bar featuring Ben & Jerry’s. Skate rentals available. 50/50 raffle. Open to the public. Green Peppers will offer a dinner special with a portion of proceeds donated to the Perrine family. Admission by donation.

  • Snowshoe Safari: Winter tracking with Vermont Fish and Wildlife in Goshen. Saturday, Feb. 7, 1-3 p.m., Blueberry Hill Outdoor Center, 1288 Goshen-Ripton Rd. Join Middlebury Area Land Trust and Vermont Fish & Wildlife for a family-friendly winter tracking adventure on the Beaver Dam Loop, a roughly 1.7-mile trail with optional side treks. Participants will snowshoe or hike while learning to identify animal tracks and signs and uncover the stories wildlife leaves behind in the snow. Free. More info at maltvt.org.
  • Crafty Morning with Mirjam Brett in Salisbury. Saturday, Feb. 7, 10:30 a.m., basement of the Salisbury Meeting House, 853 Maple St. Upcycle your boxes, cans and tins into one-of-a-kind pieces in this maker workshop with artist Mirjam Brett. Easy and fun for beginners. Registration required. Bring your own soup cans, gift boxes, or other containers. Kids 10 and up welcome. Suggested donation $10.

  • Hill Country Holiday parade in Lincoln. Saturday, Feb. 7, 11 a.m., beginning at Burnham Hall (52 East River Road) and ending at the Lincoln Library (222 West River Road). Join Lincoln Cooperative Preschool students as they march from Burnham Hall to the library and perform at the store along the way. Parade theme: “Winter Sports.” More info at lincolnsports.org.

  • Willowell Boogie Benfit in Bristol. Saturday, Feb. 14, 6 p.m., Holley Hall, 1 South St. Dance the night away at the Willowell Foundation’s annual Boogie Benefit fundraiser. The family-friendly event features live music by the Almendros, a silent auction, food and a cash bar. Proceeds support Willowell’s scholarship funding, helping children access nature-based programming and education. $10 at the door, free for children 12 and under. More info at willowell.org.

    SATURDAY, FEB. 21

  • Winter Carnival Ice Show: MiddNight Magic in Middlebury. Saturday, Feb. 21, 7 p.m., Kenyon Arena, Middlebury College, 219 S. Main St. Annual Winter Carnival ice show featuring skaters from Middlebury College, the town of Middlebury, UVM and more. Open to the public.     SUNDAY, MARCH 8

  • Introduction to maple sugaring in Leicester. Sunday, March 8, 1-3 p.m., Foxglove Farm, 777 Delorm Rd. Learn how maple syrup is made at this hands-on workshop from MALT, country forester Mark Raishart and Vermont Woodlands Association representative Catherine Raishart. Participants will learn to identify maple trees, set taps, collect sap and understand the basics of syrup making. Twenty free sugaring starter kits will be available, one per family while supplies last, thanks to Bread Loaf View Farm. Free. More info at maltvt.org.
