Open house season is upon us, which means it’s time to start planning for next school year now!
We’ve been in touch with local area preschools and childcare centers as well as private elementary and middle schools, so our calendar is quickly filling up with open houses; days where families can visit a potential school. But before we introduce Evergreen Preschool, let us give you a bit of advice. You know that saying about the squeaky wheel? Be that wheel; be proactive about your child’s education. Arrange a visit, go to an open house, schedule a phone call, discuss tuition options, talk about your kid, be nice, ask questions and be present. A handshake and smile will go a lot further than an unfamiliar name on a list of 100 applicants — and if you think we’re exaggerating, we’re not, childcare wait lists are exceptionally long, but we’ll save that rant for another day. On to our sponsored content for the day!
Evergreen Preschool is hosting an open house February 6 for all areas families interested in learning more about this Vergennes preschool. Evergreen offers two programs for children ages 3-5 (must be 3 by sept. 1, 2016 for the 2016-17 school year).
“More than 80% of a child’s brain develops by age 3 and 90% by age 5, making the first years the most critical period for brain development. During these earliest years, 700 – 1000 new brain connections form every second, laying a foundation for all future social-emotional development, learning and skill-building. While a child’s genes provide a blueprint for these connections, early experiences impact brain development, meaning that helping our children build strong brains means giving them quality early experiences and interactions—from day one.” – letsgrowkids.org
