Ideas for Vacation in VermontAre you still reeling from December vacation….wondering where the heck January went and why there seem to be no 5 day weeks of school lately? You’re not alone! We’re running around like crazy people trying to maintain some semblance of a normal work week schedule. Fist bumps and hugs to everyone doing the snow day, inservice and vacation day shuffle out there, maybe next week there will be 5 full days of school!

January is mercifully coming to a close, which means February Vacation is right around the corner! Before you grab the paper bag and start hyperventilating, read on, because there are still plenty of activities and camps to sign up for during this upcoming vacation. You’ll find them all on our website, so click through to read about ideas to keep your kids active and you sane.


Middlebury Sew & Vac Vacation Camps middleburysewnvac.com

If you have a 10-14 year old that has interest in sewing or has experience sewing, this is a perfect camp for them.  Projects will be determined by the skills of the student.  Great opportunity to learn how to sew, learn new techniques, and build on skills already learned!  Tap into your child’s creativity and watch it soar! call to sign up (802) 388-3559

Aurora School February Vacation Camp

Are you looking for a great way to occupy your kids during February break? We currently have limited openings in our vacation week camp- Whose Woods These Are! “Whose woods these are I think I know…” spend a week in the winter woods behind Aurora School and discover whose woods they really are!

Activities will range from tracking to shelter-building to poetry and art– with plenty of time for play, as well. “The woods are lovely, dark and deep,” and waiting to be explored!

  • Camp will run from February 20-24 and be led by Director Emerita Susan Vigne.
  • The rate for the week is $185 or $50 per day. Hours are 9-4 with early care every day except Monday from 8-9, and late care every day but Friday, from 4-5. Each extra hour is $5 per child.

Aurora school is a state-approved k-8 school located in Middlebury. Stay tuned for details about our April break camp, as well!


Middlebury Parks and Recreation February Vacation Camp
  • Camp description: Under the direction of Shannon Larose, come explore, make discoveries and find new talents. Express yourself through various art forms, sports games, and other fun activities. If your children enjoy Camp Kookamunga then they will love Vacation Camp! Middlebury Parks and Rec. is committed to providing youth with enriching out of school experiences where we foster positive social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth. Each day at Vacation Camp will have its own mini theme beginning with Spy Science (Spy-ence) on Monday and finishing up with The Mystery of Flight on Friday. The days between will be dependent on the interests of the children attending the program. Space is limited so sign up today.
  • Location: Middlebury Recreation Center
  • Age of participants: K-4th grade
  • Dates: Monday thru Friday February 20 – 24th, 2017   Time: 8am-4:30pm
  • Cost: $185 per week for Residents and 212.75 for Non-Residents, Scholarships are available and guidelines are based on the free/reduced lunch program at schools

Bristol Recreation Department – camp + family activities

Family swim, open pool at the Mount Abraham Pool 

  • Feb 22 & 24
  • 9:30 – Noon 
  • $3 per swimmer, children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

Clay Camps – Vacation Fun!

What a great way to spend part of your winter break. Come to the Bristol Clay studio and use your creativity to explore the potter’s wheel and or hand building to create objects in clay. The emphasis will be having fun and being creative, while learning pottery techniques. Register online.

Mary Johnson Children’s Center – Middlebury School Age Vacation Program

Full-day recreational camp, including arts/crafts, sports, outdoor and indoor fun, movie, surprises

  • Date and time: Monday through Thursday (Feb.20-23), 7:45 a.m. till 5:30 p.m.
  • Location: Mary Hogan Elementary School
  • Age range: 5-12
  • Cost: $35 for first child in family/$25 for second per day; VT State Tuition subsidy accepted

Middlebury Snow Bowl – Snow School Vacation Package

Feb Vacation Special am/pm
A series of 5 one-hour ski clinics offered for children 5 years & older and snowboard clinics for children 8 years & older, for all ability levels. 2/20/17 – 2/24/17 from 11:00 – 12:00 or 1:00 – 2:00. Register here. 


Memorial Sports Center – public ice skating 

We offer additional public skating times during school vacations.Visit public events schedule for exact times, or view the calendar on the MiniBury homepage righthand sidebar. 

  • Cost for public skating: under 5 free, 5-12 $3, 13 and up $4
  • rental skates $4 per pair.
  • Cost for stick & puck: $5. Stick & Puck requires a hockey helmet and gloves. It is not recommended for 5 years and under. 
  • DJ skate night Saturday, February 25 at the MSC, 8-10 pm with a live DJ, Students $3, Adults $5, rental skate $4, all ages.
