Get outside with your kids

I saw a post on Facebook recently about a new club that caters to parents in need of social interactions, no matter the weather, with their little ones.

A local woman named Kendall is trying to create a strong outdoor community that gets kids outside as easily as possible. “My hope is that families join together on hikes, walks, outdoor activities and outdoor crafts regardless of the time of year,” she wrote. “By creating this connection, tips and tricks of getting kids out of the house and into the outdoors will spread across our community and instill the love and passion for the outdoors in our youth. This is an entirely free gathering, just a group of families who share the love and desire to be outside.”

That all sounds great. I especially like that she is not shying away from wintertime outdoor time. I remember with my own kids (now 22 and 24 years old) having fun outdoors with them — not just sledding, but also a walk in the fields or woods all year round. It is not only a pleasant way to pass some time, but a great way to build bonds and create memories.

Kendall is starting a Facebook group called Little Wildings. I hope just the right number of parents and their kids find this group and make it a part of their growing up.
