Mark your calendars, memorial day is just around the corner. The Middlebury parade begins at 9:00 am at Porter Field and winds its way up Main Street to the Civil War monument on Merchants Row. This will be a big hit for anyone who likes trucks, cars, candy, and marching bands. So, break out your BBQ’s and white pants, it’s nearly summertime!
If you want to participate, you can walk for the Ilsley Public Library. They will gather in the parking lot behind the College art center at around 8:30 AM. They have lots of giant dream catchers to hold, as well as a large banner and some posters that kids made here at the library. The summer reading theme this year is “Dream Big” and so they are encouraging people to wear their pajamas, if they are so inclined. Slippers, sleeping caps, bathrobes…DREAM BIG! Please spread the word to any kids you know who might want to join the fun.
Vermont’s largest Memorial Day parade is hosted by Legion Post 14 in Vergennes. The 2012 parade starts from Vergennes Union High School at 11 am and winds its way through the streets of Vergennes until around 12:30 pm. Floats, tractors, classic cars, firetrucks, and much, much more!
