Let’s wish this rain away so everyone can get out and enjoy these great local events.
Start your weekend off right with a trip to the Middlebury College Observatory on Friday to see stars, star clusters and nebulae. Event occurs only if skies are mostly clear; if in doubt call 443-2266 after 6 p.m. this evening for a status report. Free.
Saturday is chock full of awesome events. Addison is hosting the Dead Creek Wildlife Day. Wildlife demonstrations, guided nature walks, exhibits, nature arts and crafts, and lots of fun family activities. Bring your binoculars and love of nature. If you happen to be in Bristol, stop by Mount Abe High School and help make no-sew fleece blankets for the Brady’s Blanket Event. If it’s foliage and fun you’re after, then make sure you head up the mountain to the Snow Bowl on Saturday. Stop by from 12-4 to enjoy lunch and lift rides, proceeds to benefit Snow Bowl Student Patrol and the Middlebury Community Care Coalition. Retail and Seasons Pass sales as well. If you’re not up for the drive, stay in town to enjoy Woofstock 2012, a family friendly walk and festival to support our local humane society (dogs welcome of course!).
If you’re not exhausted from all that fun, then get your running shoes out Sunday morning and support the Ripton Elementary School at the Ridge Run in Ripton. Annual 10.4K run, 5K run and 5K Fun Walk on the dirt roads of Ripton; raffle, lunch. Race check in begins at 11:15. Or stick around town for the CROP Hunger Walk. The walk starts at 1:00 at the Middlebury town green is approximately 2.2 miles.
Enjoy!
