Fun, fun, fundraising! Does your family love to ski? Than this fundraiser is for you! The second annual Ski and Ride for HOPE event is coming up next Sunday, February 16th from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and we encourage you to sign up today to support our local anti-poverty agency. Last year this event raised over $8,000! With that money HOPE was able to respond to the emergency needs of clients with vouchers for car repairs, prescription assistance, funds for medical and dental emergencies, electrical and heating bills as well as other critical needs.
Here are some reasons we love this event and think you will too:
PRIZES galore! Seriously, if you show up you might just go home with a brand new pair of Fischer skis, lift tickets to local ski areas, or a trip for two to local ski resort. Prizes will be awarded to the top grossing fundraisers and fastest skiers; plus all participants will be entered in the raffle. There will be three raffle prizes: an overnight stay at Blueberry Hill Inn, an overnight stay at Stowe Mountain Resort and an overnight stay at Trapp Family Lodge!
Family friendly! For families with younger children, being able to participate by just hitting the slopes together makes this a fun outing. For families with older kids, the whole family can get in on the nordic or alpine racing and fundraising action. Invite your kids to form a team of their own with their friends or race together as a family; the unique scoring system gives you all equal chances for winning!*
Awards Party! After burning those extra calories on the slopes, stop by the Awards Party at Rikert Nordic Center at 2:00 p.m. for live music by the Middlebury College a cappella group SIM and enjoy delicious chili with all the fixings!
Start fundraising today by downloading a registration and pledge form here or here. See you on the slopes! Question? Contact us or Kathy Mackey.
*Race scoring is based on a system by which the field is divided into equal sections. For instance, if 60 or more racers complete the course, the field will be divided into quarters. If fewer than 60 complete the course, the field will be divided into thirds. The fastest finishing racer in each divided field will receive one point, second fastest two points, third fastest three points etc. This system will make every racer’s run count – finishing with the 46th fastest time will earn you as many points as the racer with the overall fastest time! Also, men will be scored against men, women against women.
