You could spend this weekend watching your kids refill the dogs water dish repeatedly (and consequently remind your daughter a billion times not to drink the dog water) or you could branch out a bit. This weekend is jam packed with kid friendly events, starting Friday morning with Junebug playgroups, Dancin’ with my Baby, and Youth Media Labs at Ilsely for your tech-savvy grade schooler. Saturday brings two new activities to try out; a family nature quest in Wright Park and a duct tape design studio in Shoreham (they say you can make anything out of duct tape…so prove it). If you still haven’t gotten it done, cross off one of your to-do list items and get your car seat installed by a pro at the Middlebury Volunteer Ambulance (but please call ahead for this one).
Still in the mood for celebrating our independence? Don’t miss the Brandon 5th and 6th of July celebrations. Look here for more specific details about these family friendly events.
The weekend ends with a serious bang (or beat) with the start of Festival on the Green Sunday night. At 7:00 pm Rumbafrica will kick off the festival. Rumbafrica “Incorporates the sweet vocal harmonies and lilting dance rhythms of classic Congolese rumba. As well as the cranking, non-stop beat of modern Soukous. Guitar theatrics, percussion breakdowns, and traditional dancing are all part of Rumbafrica’s stage show.” Bring the kids or better yet, hire a sitter and enjoy the show!
