Almost exactly a year ago, I caught a glimpse of the St Mary’s School Carnival while zipping down rt. 7 and slammed on the brakes, thinking “how did I f-ing miss that?!” Nowhere in town had I seen a sign for the carnival… no flyers at the super market, no banner across Main Street, not even a tiny sign on the green.
Well, I thought, then there must be something online, right? Wrong! Nothing on the Addy Indy calendar and not even a mention of it on the St. Mary’s School website. Exasperated, I returned to Foster Motors to check the sign again, but alas the sign didn’t list the hours! Seriously, how could it be this hard to figure out carnival hours? Didn’t they want people to show up?
I’d like to say this story is an outlier, a rare blip on my parenting radar. But it wasn’t. In fact, I could tell you dozens of similar stories and I know you have your own too. But this is a special story, the one that pushed me over the edge. In our tech friendly world parents shouldn’t have to work so hard to figure out how to have fun with their kids.
Frustration soon turned to determination and I began brainstorming names, sketching logos, researching event, activities, and classes; MiniBury.com was born. Although MiniBury may have been born out of frustration – and yes even a little anger – it quickly became a labor of love.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. I hope you’ve enjoyed my musings and will continue to support this site. ~Eliza

As a Middlebury Ex-Pat and infrequent visitor, there is nothing better then knowing that we always be able to find something for the kids to do when they visit Migi and Papi. Thanks Eliza!
