1 Park Street Middlebury
Vermont 05753
On Saturday, December 7, 10am–4pm, and Sunday, December 8, 12 noon–4pm, the community is invited to the Sheldon Museum’s annual Holiday Open House. The Fashion & Fantasy at the Edge of the Forest exhibit is on view and members of the Middlebury Garden Club have created beautiful dried floral arrangements enhanced with natural botanical designs in keeping with the period of the historic Judd-Harris house. Carols played on the Museum’s 1831 piano, a craft activity, Christmas cookies, a holiday quilt raffle and of course the trains will all add to the festive event.
What has become an annual holiday tradition in Middlebury, the Midd-Vermont Train Club’s elaborate electric train layout is sure to delight all ages. Over the years, the assemblage has grown and now stands 3 levels high, with two tracks running Lionel O gauge trains and the upper track running HO trains. The backdrop of the green mountains painted by local artist Gayl Braisted adds atmosphere. The trains will run through January 7, 2014 during regular museum hours: Tuesday –Saturday 10am–5pm
Admission to the Holiday Open House is by donation.
