Join MALT at Otter Creek Gorge to watch the Geminids meteor shower. Fire pit and hot cocoa provided. The event is free but registration is appreciated.
The Geminids are one of the biggest meteor showers with up to 120 meteors per an hour at their peak. This year, the moon will be dim, allowing for an excellent view of the multi-colored meteors streaking across the sky.
This event is appropriate for families and people of all ages. Wear appropriate footwear for walking on a grassy pathway and dress for the weather. There are no bathrooms on site. Please plan accordingly.
In the event of a forecast that doesn’t allow for optimal viewing – clouds, rain, etc. – this event will take place on the Winter Solstice and involve watching Jupiter instead of the meteor shower. You will be notified via email. If the weather is once again uncooperative on the 21st, this event will be cancelled.
