FREE BOOKSHave you heard of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library or Addison County Readers? If not, we’re about to let you in on one of the best kept secrets around! Children (birth to five years) who are registered for this wonderful program receive a FREE children’s book in the mail each month that is theirs to keep. Addison County Readers, is the local sponsor of the Imagination Library and pays for the entire cost of the books, approximately $30 per child per year. Currently over 1000 Addison County children are receiving a monthly, age-appropriate books.

“By mailing high quality, age-appropriate books directly to their homes, [Dolly Parton] wanted children to be excited about books and to feel the magic that books can create. Moreover, she could insure that every child would have books, regardless of their family’s income.”

acr-logoOur family loves the Imagination Library books and here are a few reasons why:

  • New titles! Most of the books we receive have been completely new to us and we spend a lot of time at the library and bookshop!
  • The books are high quality literature; interesting to both parents and kids.
  • Books cover a variety of genres and grow with the child.
  • Each book comes a set of guiding questions reminding us to engage our children before, during and after reading.

You can find out more about the Imagination Library on the Addison County Readers website or simply enroll here.

Eliza, MiniBury Founder

Hello, I’m Eliza. I founded MiniBury in 2012 because I had a hunch that I wasn't the only parent in Addison County missing fun family friendly events. I love the challenge of finding and sharing information about our community to other parents.
