We just discovered a great way to keep your preschooler moving this winter! Rikert Nordic Center in Ripton offers two drop-in classes weekly.
Toddler Tuesday is designed to get you and your child outside – skiing separately (LOVE that!). The program teaches your child, aged 3-5, to learn to cross-country ski in a supportive and fun environment, with the Rikert instructors. Best part: if the kids aren’t skiing, they’ll sled, explore the woods, or do arts and crafts. Tuesdays 12:30-1:45.
Snowflakes, the Saturday morning program for 3.5 -5 year olds, will introduce your child to skiing and fun! The on site rental shop offers real nordic boots and skis, or if your child prefers, they can opt for over the snow boot type ski. Starts Saturday (1/5) 10:15-11:00.
For more information, including pricing, check out the Rikert Nordic Center website.
Moms (and dads) be sure to take a look at Mom Mondays, a program designed for Moms who would like to get out and ski with their child in a pulk. Never heard of a pulk? Basically they turn you into a sled dog while your child rides behind you in a warm and cozy sled, safe from the weather. Just think, you’ll get fresh air, exercise and don’t have to hire a babysitter! There’s a special discount price, but be sure to call ahead for pulk availability. 443-2744
