MLK DAY OF SERVICE: Children’s Book Drive

01.13.2014 By: Eliza, MiniBury Founder

bbfBonnie’s Book Foundation is seeking new and gently used children’s books for all ages (board books through young adult) to be dropped off (or purchased and donated) at the Vermont Book Shop on Monday, January 20, during store hours: 9:30am-5:30pm.  The books will go directly into the hands of local kids who need and want them.

This is a wonderful family-friendly service project that allows kids to help other kids in their community in a very real and tangible way. Ask your kids to spend a few minutes sorting through their bookshelves to find the books that they are finished with and would like to share with other kids who might not have books at home.

WHY PARTICIPATE: Sadly, U.S. Department of Education research shows that over 60% of children living in poverty own no books at home.  Bonnie’s Book Foundation (a local 501(c)(3) non-profit) is partnering with the Vermont Book Shop to provide books to kids who may not have books at home.  Please consider taking a few minutes to sort through your bookshelves.

Eliza, MiniBury Founder

Hello, I’m Eliza. I founded MiniBury in 2012 because I had a hunch that I wasn't the only parent in Addison County missing fun family friendly events. I love the challenge of finding and sharing information about our community to other parents.
