It’s Time To Start Thinking About Summer Camp

01.24.2022 By: Megan James

It's Time To Start Thinking About Summer Camp

KIDS IN MARY Johnson’s summer day camp swim in the Middlebury Town Pool almost every day.

Yes, we are in the deepest depths of winter, and summer feels a lifetime away. But local organizations are hard at work planning their summer camps. And some have already begun signing kids up.

Here are the Addison County day camps that have already opened registration for summer 2022, listed from youngest to oldest age of the campers:

Willowell (ages 4-13, Bristol)

Camps will bring children outdoors for safe, covid-friendly programming that get children playing, getting dirty, and learning from Willowell’s 230 acres of meadows, wetlands and forest.

Apple Yard Arts (ages 5-13, Lincoln)

Exploring individual creativity and artistic expression is what we are all about. Through painting and drawing, nature sculptures, paper mache, wood masks, sewing even friendship bracelets and more we will encourage the creative juices to flow.

Very Merry Theater (ages 6-13, Vergennes)

Campers will spend a week at the Vergennes Opera House putting together a performance of Alice Through the Looking Glass.

Green Mountain Adventures (ages 6-14, Middlebury)

Participants engage in multi-activity wilderness adventures including canoeing and kayaking, mountain biking, hiking, river-tubing, and rock climbing.

Bristol Recreation Department (ages 6-15, Bristol)

Mountain biking, River Camp, Make-It Break-It Camp: Bristol Rec has something for everyone.

Lake Champlain Maritime Museum (ages 7-17, Ferrisburgh)

LCMM’s Lake Adventure Camps offer a variety of week-long activities led by highly experienced program staff, using the fleet of watercraft, replica vessels, and teaching facilities at our 4-acre lakeside campus. Pay what you can.

Camp Terrahana (ages 6-13, Middlebury): Registration opens Feb. 2.

Mythwood (formerly Living Forest) (ages 6-13, Ripton & Bristol): Registration opens Feb. 9.

There are many more local camps that haven’t yet released plans for the summer. You can read up about them in the MiniBury Summer Camp Guide 2022, which I will continue to update as we get closer to June.
